What is dust removal and what filters can you use?

Dedusting, what is it?

Dedusting is the process in which dust particles are removed from air or gas streams. This is important in many industries to improve air quality, protect the health of your employees, and comply with environmental legislation. But it goes further. By removing dust from air streams, you prevent blockages in machines, reduce the risk of fire or explosions, and protect the operation of your equipment. A good dedusting system contributes to a safer, cleaner, and more efficient work environment.

Dedusting in different sectors

Dedusting plays an important role in various industries, such as woodworking, metalworking, the food industry, the pharmaceutical sector, and the construction and cement industry. Each sector has its own challenges. Together, we determine which solution best suits your situation for optimal production processes.

How does a dedusting system work?

Dedusting is mainly applied in processes with a very high dust load, such as in heavier industrial applications.

In the dedusting process, the dusty air is extracted and enters a dedusting unit. There, the air first hits a plate or wall, causing the larger dust particles to fall down into a collection bin. The remaining fine dust is then captured by filters. Depending on the application, filter bags (long, cylindrical cloth) or filter cartridges (compact, folded cartridges) are used. The choice between bag or cartridge depends on the specific process and its associated requirements.

By using these filters, ultimately only clean air remains, which is safely exhausted or blown back into the space.

What solutions does Interfilter offer for dedusting?

At Interfilter, we supply complete dedusting units, as well as individual filter cartridges and bags. These can be used as replacements in units from almost all well-known brands. This allows us to optimize existing installations or provide them with new filters to improve the process. View our full range here:
