Polymer filters
Efficient filtration of molten polymers
Part description
Polymer filters provide reliable and efficient filtration of molten polymers. They remove unwanted particles such as gels, fibers, or burnt residue, ensuring a consistent and high-quality end product. Thanks to their robust metal construction, polymer filters withstand high temperatures and/or pressures and have a long service life.
Advantages of polymer filters
- High filtration efficiency: removes unwanted particles down to a few microns for optimal product quality.
- Resistant to extreme conditions: suitable for high pressures and temperatures up to approx. 450 °C.
- Durable and reusable: sturdy metal design, easy to clean and reuse.
- Flexible design: available in various shapes, sizes, and filtration levels.
- Consistent product quality: prevents defects and ensures uniform production of plastic films, fibers, and other plastic products.
Types
Polymer filters are available in different types, depending on the application:
Pleated filters
Enlarged filter surface due to the pleated design. This provides high flow, long service life, and evenly distributed particle deposition that simplifies cleaning.
Sintered elements
Cylindrical elements for fine filtration. Resistant to temperatures up to approx. 450 °C and available in different micron ranges.
Leaf disc filters
Disc-shaped filters with a large surface area and high capacity. Ideal for applications with viscous polymers and situations requiring high filtration efficiency.
Extruder and spin pack filters
Thin mesh or multilayer elements placed directly in the extruder or spin pack. Suitable for very fine filtration at high pressures and temperatures.
Applications
Polymer filters are used in, among others:
- Production of synthetic fibers and textiles
- Film and foil processing (BOPP, BOPET, battery separator films)
- Resin and plastic production
- Extrusion and injection molding processes
Customization
Every application requires a specific solution. Polymer filters are available in various alloys (SS 304, 316L, Inconel, Hastelloy), diameters, lengths, and filtration ranges (from approx. 0.5 to 300 microns). Custom-made versions are also possible, tailored to your installation and production process.
